LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY IN THE NORTH AND SOUTH FOR RURAL FARMING
The close relationship of VSF and CICDA generated new ambitions regarding our role and relationships with protagonists and decision makers in the North for:
- our educating about development programmes in agricultural schools
- our campaigns to mobilise the general public
- our participation in forums which aim to propose alternatives in agricultural politics and development
- our support to lobbying and advocacy actions led by our partners in the South
Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières advocacy and lobbying sector was created in 2004.In the framework of the educating about development project we want to see consciences and practices of key figures in the North evolve by using local and cross-references to Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières field in order to promote and defend rural agriculture in society and in politics.
DEFEND THE RIGHT TO EAT AND FOOD SECURITY IN SOUTHERN RURAL POPULATIONS
Three major priorities in defending this principle in 2005-2006:
- Defend access to water and the land of rural populations
- Promote fair trade and testify to its effect on societies and rural economies in the South
- Promote the development of mountain areas and populations
- Support the idea of food soereignty in European and International agricultural political negociations (CAP, WTO)
