Check out the new fun and educational cartoon put out by VSF Europa. The cartoon teaches about the positive impact that small-scale livestock farmers have in terms of preserving the environment!
This cartoon presents new arguments and evidence that call into question the dominant opinions regarding the link between livestock farming and greenhouse-gas emissions, particularly the presumption that livestock farming is a major cause of climate change. VSF Europa (of which AVSF is a member) wants to highlight the important role that livestock farmers play as both a source of know-how and a resource for mitigating and adapting to the negative impacts of climate change. VSF Europa is trying to encourage people in the political realm to address the specific issues and needs of smallholders at international negotiations on climate.
VSF Europa’s goal is to reveal the enormous differences that exist between the various livestock-farming systems by highlighting the role of family farming and its importance in the fight to reduce poverty and improve the food security of a large portion of the world’s population. This fight is also directly linked to the commitment to ensure animal and human health services, in both the North and the South, that are perfectly in line with the principle of food sovereignty.
